SRHS Foundation – Protocol for a Nominee to Become a Board Member

A completed Board Nominee form must be on file.

The Nominee must be an active member of the Foundation.
There has to be an opening for a Board Member.
Attend one or two monthly Board meetings for the purpose of an introduction to current Board members and asking general questions.
Be available for a short interview conducted between the Board Meeting(s) attended.
The interviewing committee will determine if the nominee fulfills the needs of the Foundation Board composition, report the recommendation to the President and notify the nominee of the decision.
On the 1^st or 2^nd monthly Board Meeting attended, there will be a nomination and second. This will occur at the end of the meeting. The Nominee and any guests will be excused for the evening. The Board will then have a discussion about the nominee, at which time the President will ask for a motion. That same evening the nominee will receive a call from either the President or Vice President and informed as to the outcome of the vote.
If accepted the newly approved Board member will be able to vote during the next meeting attended.

3. Are you familiar with the Mission Statement, goals and committee structure of the Foundation?

4. Have you ever had experience with or served on a non-profit Board? If so, explain your roles and responsibilities.

5. What special skill or expertise in particular areas would you bring to the Board?

6. Can you commit to an initial 3-year term and attend Board meetings?

7. Would you have a problem serving on at least 2 standing committees?

8. In the longer term could you see yourself leading this organization or hold a Board Officer position?

9. Are you willing to be active in the various fundraising programs organized by the Foundation and to assist in the cultivation and solicitation of various forms of gifts to the Foundation?

10. Because developing new members for the Foundation is every Board Members duty, can you see yourself being active in this pursuit?
